Katie is our daughter. I didn't carry her in my womb, my hubby didn't fertilize any eggs. She was a gift from God through the miracle of adoption.
We learned about Katie's Birth Mom (BM) thanks to a friend of my mother's. My mother had been telling everyone she knew that her daughter was looking to adopt a child. A friend of my mother's had been contacted by one of her former work mate who had a niece who was pregnant and looking for an adoptive family to place the child with. A half dozen phone calls later and I was talking to the aunt of Katie's BM.
It was the end of May and I was in the middle of wrapping up the school year and super busy. School let out on a Friday and that Monday I met Katie's BM. That was June 3rd. June 11th I took her to see the OB/GYN. That is the day I fell in love with Katie. August 3rd Katie was born via C-Section with my husband and I in the operating room.
Two short days later on August 5th we took Katie home. We are now waiting for adoption finalization, which will happen sometime in February. In the meantime we have 5 home study visits from our Social Worker and our attorney is working away filing paperwork on our behalf.
